Ice Ice, Baby
After a false start trying to find information online about a abandoned train depot in Brisbane (not realising the offending depot was actually in Brisbane, California) we headed east for a change. Abandonment proved the theme, in the form of a very grimy warehouse. (how original I hear people say…you know who you are!)

I wandered around snapping various little features of the site as when viewed on the whole it was quite dull. Sven and I collaborated for some lit shots inside a little corner office which had a striking blue wall that worked well. I almost cropped the top shot before realising that the clutter around the room was one of the more interesting aspects. I have decided to bring back the ultra wide, having ignored it for so long. As Sven pointed out it is not the sharpest of lenses, but it looks so good in the right situations.
I have included quite a few of the little feature shots. While not necessarily great photos, I thought they gave an idea of the overall feel of the place.

The site seems to have, at some point, been under redevelopment. Though not much seems to have been done for some time. The temporary facilities remained though – I tell you there is nothing like the wafting smell of a porta-loo at 11pm.
There were actually two adjoining warehouses, the connecting door was barricaded with truly bizarre massive medieval sized logs of around 1m diameter. Was there a peasant uprising on one side of the warehouse? Another oddity was this plastic chair that had been suspended from the rafters.

I dragged out the tire in the shot below for something in the foreground, not sure it was entirely worth it. The room is lit with a diffused torch, again that blue wall really stands out.

I quite like that view through the security door – you’re well-lit there. Not sure about that tyre, but at least it’s better than nothing at all.
The chain is interesting – wish I’d tried shooting around that…
Yeah I liked the chain and barrel but that shot is ever so slightly out of focus – I need micro focus adjustment dammit!
Believe it or not, but this place is vastly more trashed now.
