Have noticed the moon very big in the sky recently – must be near its perigee (thanks Wikipedia). I actually noticed it when driving a few nights ago over along the river at Norman Park where I saw the most picture perfect moon setting over the city at around 11pm – it was huge! Alas…no camera, and it set very quickly from that point. It has been slowly rising later so I caught this shot from my front yard this afternoon.

Must say it pales in comparison to the shot that could have been. Will have to watch out for when the timing and moon position will re-create the shot again.

Seems everyone is turning 30? Well since a lot of people I know were born in 1977 that seems about right! Ben and Shell had a great 30th bash Saturday night, with a 70’s theme. I took some rather drunken (mostly blury :) ) pics. The pics are actually in a gallery (removed) as there are a few.

Since this is a photography blog, the pics were with the 50mm F1.8 without flash – always like the look much better but it helps if you can hold the camera still! EDIT: Also helps if viewfinder dioptric isn’t set to “blind person”. Don’t know how it got moved but most of the evening was out of focus – at least as it appeared to me :)

Pit toilets were the facilities and the fundamental nature of poo was one of the many discussions around the campfire when Kelli, Sven, Ben, Michelle, Neil and I went to Sundown national park for the long weekend. A good time was had by all and although the area was very dry and most of the “creeks” are now actually just rough walking paths, it was still great to be out in the peace and quite. Below is one of the few places where a decent body of water could be found.

Seeking to get back in the swing of things before heading to Sundown this weekend Sven and I headed out the last couple of nights. Sadly two nights of exploration only yielded these two shots. First night we went west to some planes we had heard about at Willowbank but were disappointed and didn’t even get out cameras. Then to the Eagle Farm rail yard the following night.
