General tomfoolery

Third post in a day. I figure once I get going, it may be a while before I find time to return
This is just something random Sven and I did sometime ago while waiting for a long exposure on Sven’s camera. Now I framed up and Sven carefully planned out the movments he would need to make with the torch, thinking about the backwards lettering, covering the torch on strokes that should not be visible etc. and produced this quite good “photo paint”.

Now I on the other hand, being generally un-co, managed this rather tragic looking pile of steaming crap.

Yes…well.

Well on a lazy Sunday afternoon Sven an I headed out to Tingalpa reservoir making one crucial stop on the way. At Sven’s suggestion, we purchased gum boots at Bunnings. I have to say it was the best $20 spent on photography in recent memory. Well at least on this trip where walking on mud and shallow water was a must. We were hoping to catch a nice sunset but were a bit disapointed on that front.
Tingalpa has reasonably still water which makes for nice reflections. After the walk in we treked along the bank for a kilometer or so snapping as we went.

Tragic demolition

A crying shame I noticed recently while driving by is that Tennyson power station is being pulled down to make way for the new tennis centre. I had always thought it was a great looking building and often though of gaining access to photograph. Alas this will now never happen. It was quite difficult to gain access and get a shot without fence in the foreground. I braved crossing the railway line but did not go down onto the actual site.

Friday night photos…

Headed out with Sven and Chris (longexposure.net) last Friday night. Chris is also a Canon user and I was able to borrow his Sigma 10-20mm lens which I have been looking at getting. So the evening turned into an investigation of super-wide angles.

I really must update more often as this was ages ago. My Tripod Girl works out near the Gateway and one afternoon when picking her up I decided to go for a stroll along the riverside park out there – of course with my camera

Since I don’t have much new content at present I am going to start out with some pano’s I have stitched up over the years. I don’t do them often and it really does require a tripod for accurate movement of the camera, but when it all stitches up well they can make very striking images. Great in some situations if you can’t afford a good fisheye
Like this bullring, the oldest of its kind in Sevilla, Spain. The red streaks are the remains of the last bull as it was dragged around the ring in triumph. Nice.
